Talks & Presentations
Since his retirement Captain Nick has been able to refine and expand on his topics for After Dinner Speaking and Power Point Presentations. Generally his talks can be tailored to any particular group but all tend to give a light hearted look at his 45 years at sea and in command of some of the finest and most famous Cruise Liners in the world.
After dinner speaking engagements can take the form of either:
The main subject material covers his life and times at sea and is a light hearted presentation or talk.
The title he most commonly uses is :- A Laugh on the Ocean Wave. This is a light hearted look back over some of the more interesting experiences and people he has encountered during his lifetime at sea.
His second and very popular presentation for the more serious ship lover is called "The Building a Super Liner",covers the construction of the QE2. For this Nick has obtained a unique series of over 60 original photographs showing the construction of this wonderful liner from the keel to the launch. Interspersed he has added his own unique style of humour relating a number of actual stories and events during the life of the QE2
His third presentation gives a fascinating yet still light hearted talk on The History of Navigation from the early Chinese to the modern satellite systems, again he has included a number of light hearted and interesting stories.
This is a power point presentation covering the progress and advances in Navigation over the centuries and includes many anecdotal stories from his own research and personal experiences. (He does go back quite a long time himself).
Captain Nick has also a great deal of media and legal experience as an expert witness. Most recently commenting on and advising on the Costa Concordia disaster.
As a hobby Nick has also followed in his fathers footsteps and taken up painting with water colours, examples of is work can be found at www.inverleithartgroup.com
